The Behavioral Sciences major is customizable and can be crafted according to each student’s unique interests and career aspirations.
The mission of the Behavioral Science degree is to develop graduates who value diversity and embrace the integration of life and learning. We aim to foster a learning environment in which students can understand and apply the core concepts and elements of social science. The major exposes students to an individualized blend of social science courses, preparing them for a diverse range of career and educational possibilities. Students are prepared for master’s level studies as well as for career placement in education, policing, non-profit organizations, social services and welfare, marketing, program analysis, and much more.
The major is customizable and can be crafted according to each student’s unique interests and career aspirations. Students will select from an array of psychology, sociology, and criminology courses and have flexible scheduling options including day, evening, blended, and online course offerings. They can, through their elective courses, develop a curriculum that works towards their academic strengths and interests.

Through the Mount’s Career and Experiential Learning office, Behavioral Science Majors have access to relevant co-op, service learning, and internship opportunities. Upon graduation, students may utilize their Behavioral Science degree to pursue employment as a:

- Asset protection or loss prevention
- Welfare/social services
- Marketing research analyst (with the additional courses MKT 300 and MKT 415)
- Victims’ advocate
- Rehab counselor

In addition, students may consider pursuing the Mount’s 4+1 Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. They could also pursue licensure and master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, and/or Multi-age Education. The Behavioral Sciences degree can also serve as a springboard for a number of graduate level programs such as Criminal Justice, Sociology, Education, Counseling, and Social Work.
